Figure. 3 Creativity Tools Poster
After watching the TED Talk video presented by Balder Onarheim (TEDx Talks, 2015), there are 3 tools that can help us increase our creativity:
1. Continuous practice
He provided an example way for this tool. While we are brushing our teeth, think about 3 words which can be anything e.g. dinosaurs, iPhone, or pen, etc. since it practices our brain generates ideas or stimulates our brain to think which is a good way for idea generation or brainstorming sessions in the working environment.
2. Sleeping/Dreaming
Before, we go to sleep, think about a challenging problem or statement that we want to solve. While sleeping or in the realm of dream and imagination where we can express our idea beyond the standard physic rules or reality, we can think of many different solutions to solve the challenging problem and it needs to be in a relaxing, enjoying, and fun way so as to increase the efficiency and motivation along with avoiding the real world's constraints and limitations. After sleeping, not only it helps us feel better and refresh on the next day, but it also helps us think outside the box and creates intriguing or interesting solutions based on the recent dream. It is one of the most simple and easy to execute tools that anyone can use anywhere, anytime, and at any age since dreaming and sleeping holds no boundary even reality. Therefore, it is one of the recommended tools for increasing creativity in the working environment.
3. Randomness
Initially, we need to think about a challenge. Subsequently, we can develop the solutions by randomizing our answers. The solutions can be silly, outdated, or childish, etc. as long as we stimulate our brain to stimulate the ideas which is a good way to improve our creativity. Additionally, we can go to Wikipedia and use the randomize feature to generate random articles that we can use and combine them or base on them to create a solution.
